The Lookout (2007) DVDRip XviD - DiAMOND

An admired high school hockey player (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) with a bright future foolishly takes a drive in the night with his girl friend and two other friends with his headlights off with devastating results. The former athlete is left with a brain injury that prevents him from remembering many things for extended periods of time. To compensate, he keeps notes in a small notebook to aid him in remembering what he is to do. He also lives with a blind friend (Jeff Daniels) who aids him. Obviously, with the mental incapacitation, he is unable to have meaningful work. Thus he works as a night cleaning man in a bank. It is there he comes under the scrutiny of a gang planning to rob the bank. The leader (Matthew Goode) befriends him and gets him involved with a young woman (Isla Fisher) who further reels him in. After they get close and after reeling him in with his own failures, the bank plan unfolds. Confused but wanting to escape his current existence, he initially goes along with the scheme. After realizing he is being used, he attempts to stop the robbery, which of course immediately goes awry. Bruce McGill and Alberta Watson also co-star as the young man’s parents, who still search for the person that was there before the tragic crash.

Nobody Loves Alice (2008) STV DVDRip XviD-TheWretched

Nobody Loves Alice is the most shocking psychological horror film that I’ve seen this year, so far. Writer/Director Roger A Scheck provides a very shocking character study here. Its one of those movies that rely, for the most part on character development. It does that so that you are interested in the characters. Scheck does a very good job spending time developing on the two main characters. He does that by going into the background of the main character, and focusing on the struggles of the person that going through, what it’s like to have someone you love being abducted. Scheck also doesn’t go kill crazy like in the recent torture-porn films even thought there are some moments in the film. He does that by focusing on building the suspense, as it helped some of those moments be shocking. Scheck’s direction was very good, as he manages to get his actors to play their roles perfectly.

Turn The River (2008) LIMITED DVDSCR XviD-XanaX

In the thriller TURN THE RIVER, Famke Janssen (Best Actress- Hamptons Film Festival) stars as Kailey a small town pool hustler in upstate New York. The film takes place on the Greek Island of Spetses, where widowed Greek-History Professor Thomas Bradley (Billy Zane) is about to lose his research grant studying ancient love spells. Joined by his 12 year-old daughter, Serena (Amber Savva), Thomas departs to the Greece island looking for the inspiration he needs to finish his thesis. Serena knows that what her father needs most of all is to find love again after the loss of his wife. Initially, Serena tries her hand at matchmaking with the local women on the island, who are less than impressed by the awkward and clumsy Thomas. Very much in tune to the ancient spirits herself, Serena meets Nereid (Kelly Brook) a beautiful mermaid. However, menace is present in the form of the evil Captain Mavros (Alki David), an island fisherman intent on killing Nereid and getting his claws on her priceless jewel-encrusted tail. Serena realises that she has finally found the ideal match for her father and employs her father’s ancient Greek love spells to make them fall in love. Eventually Nereid sacrifices her immortality to become a mortal human being, joining Thomas and Serena back in Oxford where Thomas’s thesis is received in triumph.
